In addition to the public events, during the spring and summer months there is a lot of maintenance work in the orchard. This includes mowing, weeding, mulching, checking the trees, clearance of brambles and dogwood.
We are now in full summertime. Our regular work evenings in the orchard continue until the end of October, when the clocks go back.
Work evenings are on the first and third Monday evening of each month, with the occasional Wednesday evening as well.
The main tasks during summer are mowing, weeding, mulching, checking the trees, clearance of brambles and dogwood.
A member of the Dorking Orchard team will be in the orchard from about 4:30 pm, to allocate tasks and organise the work that needs doing. Work evenings run from around 4:30pm until about 7pm (but you don’t need to turn up at any particular time, or even stay for the whole period!). Tools provided.
If you have light gardening tools and gloves please bring what you can. If mowing or strimming, stout footwear and long trousers are required.
Next work evenings in the orchard will be:

Monday 18 th August
Monday 1 st September
Wednesday 10 th September
Monday 15 th September
Monday 6 th October
